I grew up in a suburban town in Connecticut with a penchant for building things. A childhood of building LEGOs led me into the FIRST LEGO league, and subsequently, my high school’s FIRST Robotics team. This is what led me to decide to pursue mechanical engineering.

In my college search, I was fortunate enough to get into MIT. I continued my interest in robotics by participating on the MIT / Harvard Robocup team.

While at MIT, I discovered music composition, and I am now hooked. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Music. Some people think that these two are very different, but I find them quite similar - finding ways to create beautiful and elegant things within a framework of rules.

During my senior year at MIT, I joined the MIT Musical Theater Guild, and met a group of people who ended up being my collaborators on a new musical about hacking at MIT called “Hack, Punt, Tool”.

Here I am before conducting a performance of Hack, Punt, Tool in January 2012

Besides engineering, music, and theater, some of my interests include photography and videography, travelling, learning languages, playing board games, running, hiking and history.
